Built for district cooling and heating complexity

Every capability connects to the same operational record — customer, meter, tariff, billing, and payment data in one system.

01

Thermal Energy Billing (TR-h)

Bill cooling or heating consumption in ton-refrigeration-hours (TR-h), kWh thermal, or BTU. Apply demand-based capacity charges on the same invoice.

02

ETS Data Ingestion

Ingest Energy Transfer Station supply and return temperature, flow rate, and thermal energy readings via API or scheduled data files.

03

Contract Capacity Charges

Bill contracted cooling or heating capacity (TR) as a fixed monthly demand charge, separate from actual thermal energy consumption.

04

Supply and Return Differential Tracking

Monitor delta-T (supply/return temperature differential) per ETS for efficiency benchmarking and anomaly detection.

05

Multi-Tenant Thermal Invoicing

Generate separate invoices for each tenant in a multi-building district energy network, with detailed TR-h and capacity line items.

06

Revenue Assurance for District Energy

Detect ETS data gaps, consumption anomalies, and unbilled periods before they become recurring revenue losses.

Common challenges UtilConnect solves

  • Integrating heterogeneous ETS telemetry systems
  • Accurate TR-h calculation from supply/return differential data
  • Contract capacity vs. consumption reconciliation
  • Multi-tenant billing across large district networks
  • Revenue leakage from undetected ETS data gaps

One platform. Complete coverage.

Frequently asked questions

What is TR-h billing and how does UtilConnect support it?

TR-h (ton-refrigeration-hour) is the standard unit for measuring district cooling energy. UtilConnect calculates TR-h from ETS flow rate and supply/return temperature differential data, then applies the applicable tariff to generate invoices.

How does UtilConnect integrate with Energy Transfer Stations?

UtilConnect ingests ETS data via REST API or scheduled file exchange (CSV, XML). Supply temperature, return temperature, flow rate, and cumulative energy readings are stored in the meter data layer and used for billing.

Can UtilConnect handle both capacity charges and consumption billing?

Yes. District cooling tariffs typically include a monthly contracted capacity charge (in TR) and a variable consumption charge (in TR-h). UtilConnect bills both on a single consolidated invoice.

Does UtilConnect support multi-building district energy networks?

Yes. UtilConnect manages each building or ETS as a separate premise within a customer account. Each location gets its own consumption data, capacity billing, and invoice — with consolidated reporting across the network.
